Formula & method
BMI = weight (kg) ÷ height (m)². Imperial: BMI = 703 × weight (lb) ÷ height (in)².
Worked example
70 kg at 1.75 m gives BMI 22.9, in the healthy range (18.5–24.9). The healthy-weight range for 1.75 m is about 56.7–76.3 kg.
FAQ
- Is BMI the same as body fat?
- No. BMI is a height–weight ratio only; it does not measure body fat, muscle or bone density.
- Why do sources disagree on BMI search volume?
- Published estimates range from 300K to 2.7M per month because sources group keywords differently and do not always state geography. Treat any single figure as a band.
- What if I am very muscular?
- Muscle weighs more than fat, so athletes can score as overweight on BMI while being lean. Use waist measurement and body-fat estimates alongside BMI.
Search-volume figures on this site are public third-party estimates from research done in October 2026, not exact Google data. High search volume does not guarantee clicks: Google often answers calculator and conversion queries directly in the search results.
